The easiest way to reach Assisi is by road. In the interest of the environment, we encourage those of you travelling by road to ride-share with other Retreat participants.
Another option is to use a carpooling app such as BlaBlaCar. Please make sure to follow their safety guidelines when choosing a ride!

It is possible to reach Assisi by train. The station is located in the valley directly below the historic centre of Assisi in a town called Santa Maria degli Angeli. Some signage and train announcements refer to it as Santa Maria degli Angeli-Assisi.
To travel the 3 miles (5 km) between the station and the centre of Assisi, you can:
- take the C bus which stops directly in front of the station (tickets can be purchased for €1.30 at the newsstand inside the station or from the driver for €1.50 with exact change)
- take a taxi from the stand directly outside the station (for a fixed fare of €15)
- walk by following the “mattonata”, a brick path set into the sidewalk leading from the valley uphill to Assisi.
You can search for train tickets using Trainline.
The closest airports to Assisi are both in Rome. Rome has two airports, Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) and Ciampino.
There are regular flights from most European cities.
You can transfer from both airports (by bus or train) to the railway station of Roma Termini, and from there take a train to Assisi. There are 19 trains from Rome to Assisi every day.
